The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission has officially released the HP SET 2026 Notification h on the date of 3/January/2026 thereby announcing the State Eligibility Test for candidates aspiring to become assistant professors in universities and colleges all over the Himachal Pradesh. The HP SET 2026 Notification presents a great academic opportunity for postgraduate candidates who are pursuing teaching careers in Himachal Pradesh. This eligibility exam is conducted according to the UGC regulations and functions as a compulsory qualification benchmark for teaching positions at higher education institutions in the state. This eligibility test has no age restrictions and long-term certificate validity and is essential in determining the makeup of the higher education workforce in the state. Aspirants who meet the requirements must apply online through the HPPSC One Time Registration portal for HP SET 2026 between 3/January and 30/January/2026. The test will be held offline using the pen and paper method in 22 subjects at several testing locations throughout the state. Who Is Eligible?

Candidates must meet the specified academic requirements as of the application deadline which are: A master’s degree from a UGC-from a well known university with a minimum of 55% marks for General/UR/General-EWS candidates and a minimum of 50% marks for SC/ST/OBC-NCL and PwD candidates of Himachal Pradesh. The final-year master’s students are allowed to apply provisionally. Also PhD holders who completed their Master’s degree by 19 September 1991 receive a 5% relaxation. There is no upper age limit to take HP SET 2026 thereby making it available to candidates at any career stage. Candidates must know that HP authorities provide reservation to those candidates of Himachal Pradesh who fall under the category of SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PWD/EWS and BPL and the candidates who are from other states will be treated as general category

Exam Pattern:

Qualifying Criteria:

Candidates must meet the minimum aggregate score to be declared qualified for the HP SET 2026 that is: 40% aggregate in both papers for the general category and 35% aggregate for reserved categories. Candidates must know that only the top 6% of appearing candidates will be declared qualified

The application is entirely online and must be submitted through the HPPSC OTR portal using the official procedure that is stated below:

Step 2: Find the HP SET 2026 advertisement by logging in with your OTR credentials.
Step 3: Correctly enter your academic along with personal and category information and upload the necessary certificates along with a recent photo and your signature.
